Car Insurance Chrysler (Car Insurance). My car made a knocky noise and then dropped a lot of oil!?My car made a knocky noise and then dropped a lot of oil!? Yup! 95 Civic engine started making a metallic knocky noise. Then it kinda stalled and the sound changed to a slower more muffled noise. When I checked there was a lot of oil under the engine but I could not see where it was coming from. Also the oil pan gasket was ruptured but anyways my moms boyfriend says it is probably just the gasket. I need to fix it to give it as a down payment for my dads work truck which he definitely needs. Any ideas on what could have happened to Juanito? (Juanito is the cars name) Sounds like you may have a broken connecting rod. Possibly broke and launched it thru the engine block. Well i've been riding around in my Suzuki GZ250 for about 1000 miles and I'm looking to get a second motorcycle. I'm 25 and I've already passed the MSF and I'm endorsed. I test rode the Street Triple and found the upright ergonomics appealing, plus it has plenty of power and is very maneuverable. I've been looking at other bikes as well mostly the Suzuki M50 and Harley 883 and 1200 Nightster, but I feel the Triumph is what I'm looking for. I've been struggling with this problem for about 2 years now, my 1999 Toyota Camry's driver side window will not close. Years ago someone tried to break in (failed) and it wouldn't close all the way. It was fixed and remained so for a while. Then about a year ago i left the windows open and got out of the car, I assume when i closed the door that it knocked something loose, it took me about a year to finally get it in the shop and have it fixed. It seemed to be fine until the window got nearly closed and then it would just go crooked and leave about an inch of open space. This happened again the other day, it's only been fixed for about 3 months and I would really like to avoid taking it back to the shop. Any suggestions? car insurance. Chrysler . How to Change Out a Toyota Sienna AlternatorThe alternator in your vehicle is a critical component responsible for the charging of the battery as well as providing electricity to the ignition system. Changing it can be tough on some vehicles, but overall it is a job that most home mechanics can handle. The Toyota Sienna has an alternator mounted on the drivers side of the engine and requires just two bolts and two wire connections be disconnected for removal of the alternator. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Metric socket set Metric open end wrenches Torque wrench Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the battery terminals from the battery and lay them off to one side. You will be working with electrical connections at the alternator, so this is a step that must be completed for safety reasons. 2 Locate the alternator on the driver's side, in front of the engine. You will see two bolts holding the alternator in place. Locate the adjustment bolts on the right side of the alternator. 3 Loosen the adjustment bolt, as well as the mounting bolt on the left side of the alternator and remove the belt from the pulley. Make note of the path the bolt follows over the pulleys before removing it to allow for easier replacement of the belt. 4 Remove the two electrical connectors on the alternator. The first is a pinch type connector on the rear of the alternator and the second will be bolted to the top of the alternator. Set these both aside and remove both the adjustment bolt and the mounting bolt and lift the alternator out of the engine compartment. 5 Place the new alternator into the engine compartment and align the mounting holes with the threaded holes in the mounting bracket. Insert the mounting bolt first but do not tighten it yet. 6 Insert the adjustment bolt into the alternator and bracket leaving it loose enough to move the alternator body around on the bracket. Reinstall the pinch connector on the rear of the alternator, then attach the larger cable on top of the alternator using the nut and washer included. 7 Replace the belt on the pulleys making sure that it follows the original path over all pulleys on the engine and adjust it by pulling the alternator away from the engine until the the tension on the belt is snug. Tighten the adjuster bolt until it is snug. 8 Tighten the mounting bolt until it is snug and check the belt tension. The belt needs to be tight enough to not slip but should still have a slight amount of deflection in it when you apply pressure to it between the pulleys. 9 Tighten both bolts and torque them to the manufactures specifications. Reinstall the battery cables on the terminals and test run the engine. Tips & Warnings Using a torque wrench on the bolts of the alternator will keep you from stripping the threads in the mounting bracket. Never over tighten the belt on the engine. It will result in premature wear or failure of the belt.
Chrysler . How to Change a Sonata AlternatorIf the alternator on your vehicle goes out, you wont be able to keep your battery charged for long. The Hyundai Sonata has fairly easy to access alternator, and changing it doesn't take that long. The following tutorial is applicable to Hyundai Sonatas equipped with either the 2.4L four-cylinder engine or the 2.7L V-6 engine. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Gloves Pliers Socket wrench set Breaker bar or extension (optional) Replacement alternator Torque wrenchRemove the Old Alternator Step by Step : 1 Remove the battery access cover and unhook the negative battery cable. Keep the cable isolated to prevent it from touching the terminal. 2 Disconnect the black wiring from the alternator first, and then disconnect the red wiring from the rear. Once these wires are disconnected, unhook the final electrical connection. 3 Slip the belt away from the alternator pulley. You do not need to remove the belt completely, just take it off the alternator. 4 Remove the alternator mounting bolts. The Sonata has two: one large bolt (pivot) on the bottom and one small bolt (adjustment) on top. Using a breaker bar or a socket extension will help you remove the bolts. 5 Pull the alternator out of the engine bay. Bring it with you to purchase a new one. When you purchase a new alternator, you will be charged a "core charge" unless you "trade in" the old alternator. Install the New Alternator Step by Step : 1 Position the alternator on its mount. Use a torque wrench to tighten the large (pivot) bolt to between 14 and 18 foot-pounds of torque (2.7L V-6) or to 26 to 41 foot-pounds of torque (2.4L I-4). 2 Tighten the small (adjustment) bolt between 105 to 132 inch-pounds (2.7L V-6) or to 14 to 18 foot-pounds (2.4L I-4). 3 Replace the primary electrical connection, and then replace the red wiring. After replacing the red wiring, replace the black wiring. The red wiring must be connected first. 4 Slip the belt around the alternator, and reconnect the negative battery cable. Tips & Warnings If you purchased your new alternator before removing the old one, bring the old one to the store to get a refund of the core charge. Not following proper safety guidelines and recommendations could cause damage or injury. *I provide separate sections for checking and reassembling drum brakes and checking disc brakes, so just read the ones that relate to the type of brakes you have. The section on checking and packing wheel bearings applies to both drum and disc brakes (but if you have disc brakes, do these jobs only under supervision at an auto class). Checking drum brakes As you can see in Figure 18-4, you have to remove a bunch of stuff to get to a drum brake. The steps in this section explain how to do so and what to look for when you finally get to your brakes. (Note: A front-wheel drive vehicle doesn't conform exactly to the following description. You can still check the brakes, but you can't repack the wheel bearings.) Arrange to do this work in a well-ventilated area, and be very careful not to inhale the dust from the brake drum — it probably contains asbestos. If you get asbestos in your lungs, you run the risk of asbestosis and asbestos emphysema. 1. Jack up your vehicle. For instructions, see Chapter 1. Be sure to observe safety precautions with that jack! Brake drums are classified as either "hubbed" or "floating" (hubless). Hubbed drums have wheel bearings inside them. Floating drums simply 828
